Vegan Travel: Barcelona

Vegan Travel: Barcelona

I lived in Barcelona for a year and this is a quick blog on my favourite vegan places around the city.  Overall though, it is a very ‘vegan friendly city’ with lots of options all over the city; there are almost always milk alternatives in all the cafes and options on most menus.

My favourite restaurant in Barcelona is a vegan and vegetarian pizza restaurant called Dolce Pizza & Los Veganos.  Whilst I was there they actually opened a second restaurant due to popular demand, so there is one here: Avenida Gaudi, 74 (by Hospital Sant Pau) and the new one is here: Hipolit Lazaro, 34 (close to Joanic Metro station).  It has loads of options for vegetarians and vegans.  Including pizza, burgers and pasta dishes; I always had the chorizo pizza though.  Both restaurants are easy to find, reasonably priced, and run by a really nice couple.

My favourite vegan cafe is Quinoa Bar Vegetaria, which is here: Hipolit Lazaro, 34.  Just a nice small little place and is really easy to get to.  I used to go here frequently whilst writing my thesis.

Another place to check out is Veggie Garden, which is a very popular vegan restaurant in the middle of Barcelona.  The restaurant offers a three course meal, with wine and bread, for under €10.  The restaurant is found here: Plaça dels Àngels 3.  I recommend the dal they make with their organic red wine.

Finally, there is a vegan bakery in Gracia, which is really good.  It is a bit expensive, but the food is very nice.  That place is found here: La Besnéta, Calle Torrijos, 37.

I had such an amazing time living in Barcelona, and hopefully will get a chance to visit again next year - when Messi is playing and the sun is shining!

If you're an egalitarian, how come you eat meat?
